Dr. Mark Lyles currently serves as Chief Affiliations and Business Transformation Officer for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Mark is responsible for developing and deepening relationships between MUSC and other clinical and non-clinical entities for the purposes of population health management and to enable MUSC to deliver the full continuum of care to all of its patients.
Mark currently holds administrative responsibility for MUSC’s telemedicine, population health, health promotion and wellness, and business transformation programs. Mark also is responsible for developing and administering the MUSC Health Plan, a novel insurance plan created in partnership with the State of South Carolina that covers over 19,000 people who are employees, or dependents of employees, at MUSC.
A practicing academic general internist, Mark has held numerous administrative roles, including senior positions within the MUSC College of Medicine, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and with Amicus Therapeutics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company.
A longstanding fellow in the American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ), Mark currently serves as President of this national organization.
A native of Sumter, SC, Mark earned his medical degree and completed his residency at MUSC; he completed a fellowship in quality management and managed care at the University of Pennsylvania Health System; and he earned an MBA in healthcare management from The Wharton School.
